Biography

Dr. Farhad Ismail has extensive professional and research experience in the field of thermal engineering, experimental and computational fluid dynamics, water treatment, and environmental impact assessment. 

Prior to joining MIST in 2021, Dr. Farhad was a postdoctoral research fellow (2020) in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of University of Alberta, AB, Canada. Dr. Farhad completed his PhD (2020) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Alberta with a research focus on water treatment, and environmental impact assessment. He completed his MSc. (2014) in Mechatronic Systems Engineering with a research focus on wind turbine aerodynamics from Simon Fraser University and University of British Colombia (joint program), BC, Canada. Dr. Farhad did his BSc. (2012) in Mechanical Engineering with a research focus on thermo-fluid analysis of nano-composite materials from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh. 

Right after his undergraduate degree, he worked as a Lecturer (2012) at Bangladesh University of Textiles, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also worked as a visiting graduate researcher (2013) in Mechanical Engineering with a research focus on micro-electronic cooling technology at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), BC, Canada.
